How to Hide Followers on Instagram? X Easy Ways

Instagram is undoubtedly one of the most popular social media platforms, used by millions around the world. It helps you connect with people you know, share your photographs and other media, as well as engage with the content you are interested in. However, keeping an eye on your privacy on Instagram can sometimes be tricky, especially if you have never really been in a situation where you need to protect it, or if you are new to the platform. As Instagram’s functions expand, it is becoming more difficult to keep your information safe.

For that reason, this blog post will take a deeper look into how you can manage your privacy, more specifically hide followers on Instagram.

1) Make your personal account private

Once you have opened the Instagram app, go to your profile and tap on the three lines in the upper right corner. Then go to Settings, and tap Account. You will have to scroll all the way down and Switch Account Type, making sure you are on your Personal Account. If the choosing option is not available to you, that means you already are using your personal account. Once you have done that, go back to Settings and choose Privacy, and then change your account to private. Changing your account to private means that only your followers, i.e. people who have been approved by you will be able to see your posts, as well as your followers and following list.

2) Restrict users

Land on your profile and tap Settings. In the Settings search bar, type Contact syncing and make sure this option is disabled. Once you have disabled contact syncing, go back to Privacy settings and make your account private. Scroll all the way down in your privacy settings, and at the bottom, you will see a Restricted accounts option. A restricted account basically means that even though a certain profile will remain in your followers list, they will be unable to see your followers and following lists. Apart from that, neither their posts nor Instagram stories will appear on your homepage. Once you have landed on Restricted accounts, all you have to do is simply type in the username of a profile you want to restrict. If you happen to change your mind, you can disable the restriction by going to the very same settings option.

3) Remove users

A few years back, Instagram introduced a Remove user option, which allows you to remove unwanted users from both your followers and following lists. All you have to do is simply go to your profile, tap on Followers, search for the wanted profile in the search box, and select Remove. This way you can still keep following them, even though they will not be able to see your content or lists. Importantly, Instagram will never notify the user you have removed about any of your actions, but there is a possibility that they will notice it by themselves and remove you in return.

Conclusion

Even though there is no possible way for you to completely conceal your followers or following lists, the three previously listed ways can help, at least to some extent, protect your privacy from pairs of unwanted eyes. However, if you manage an Instagram business account, the visibility of your followers and following lists can even prove to be beneficial to your brand, as users who have landed on your account for the first time can find it helpful to see that some of their friends are already supporting your brand.
