8 Best WordPress Newsletter Plugins to Get More Email Subscribers 2021

Since I started my journey online over five years ago, I always heard the term the money is in the list but never really understood what that means. A few years after being online running a few niche blogs, I learnt what it mean why all the top internet marketers recommend collecting emails address from the start. I today’s article, I will recommend some of the best free and a few premium WordPress plugin to help you grow your mailing list.

So without further ado here is a list of some of the most recommended free newsletter plugin.

Bloom

Bloom Email Opt In Plugin

Usually, I start off by mentioning the positives of the whatever I am reviewing. However, I would like to get the negatives out the way first. Bloom is an all in one email opt-in solution, but it does not support the use of popup by clicking on a link similar to what lead pages and optin monster does. If we switch our opt-in email plugin in the future, it would be for this reason. On the plus side with bloom you get a detail stats on your top converting pages. Tons of design options and triggers to control when to show your opt-i form. But the most powerful feature for me is you get to control where to display our opt-in form. Which is one of the biggest factors to how we drastically increase our subscribers. I urge you to go and check them out if you do nothing else.

WP Subscribe Pro

WP Subscribe Pro

You may have seen an opt-in form while subscribing to our email list, it was created using the plugin that I highly recommend. The default design on WP subscribe is pretty good so good in fact that I haven’t changed it that much. You also get a good amount of animation effects to choose from to help you attract your readers attention. The highlight of this plugin is that you get quite a few popup triggers to help further customize the users experience. The last thing I would like to mention is that you have the ability to include HTML and use a shortcode to populate your site with an opt-in form.

OptinMonster

Optin Monster

At first I wasn’t a fan of OptinMonster but in the past few months they have made some significant changes that earned its position in this collection.  This plugin is defiantly among the most popular out there, and I would say its main competition is Bloom. When we move away from WP Subscribe Pro due the limited feature on offer we were after something more advance. It was between OptiMonster or Bloom we decide to go with Bloom. The new version of Optin Monster does boast more feature currently than Bloom, and I will now point out a few noteworthy ones.

A feature that I love and I am sure your users/readers will is the smart subscribers recognition that prevent your opt-in showing up to those who have already subscribed. The other two main difference are the full page takeover that can be annoying but highly effective. And the last but not least is a feature they call MonsterLinks that basically allow users to click a link to see an opt-in form popup. Final word is it is worth checking out, let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

ALO EasyMail Newsletter Plugins

This is like an all in one mailing solution as it allows you to collect emails and also send out emails in one place. The awesome thing about this plugin is the wide range of features on offer; it can show you report stats of your newsletter open rate, links click, etc. Again Alo EasyMail is an excellent choice if you don’t pay a monthly fee to the likes of MailChimp, Aweber, and others. What you must think about if you have a large mailing list is this plugin can use up a lot of server resource.

Optin Skin

optin skin

Optin skin is classic and at one point used by all the top marketing bloggers. We do not hear much about this plugin these days mainly because there are cheaper alternatives. That does not mean it is no good anymore, what I love about this plugin is it provides useful stats on what opt-in form converts the most so that you can further improve it. This plugin was founded by Glen from Viperchill and is still used by other top influencers like Pat Flynn.

Wrap up

If you are starting out with little as we did then my favorite recommendation is mailbag that is free and easy to setup. However, if you have a bit more cash to invest, then I would recommend getting bloom that is what we no use and have no plans of changing anytime soon. The history of the newsletter plugin used is here is as followed: Mailbag, WP Subscribe Pro and then Bloom.

Thanks for this write-up. It looks like Bloom provides no list handling itself, but ties in with other list handling providers (like MailChimp, Aweber, and many others). Am I understanding that correctly? If I am, which provider are you using with Bloom?
