It’s true that we have an ample number of hosting options available in the market, but only a few among them fits with the need of everyone and offers good overall service. Some of the big names are Bluehost, Hostgator, GoDaddy and WP Engine. Although, it’s very crucial to choose one of them as the difference is very tiny. So, here we are offering you the comparison between Bluehost and Hostgator, if you’re practicing them.

Bluehost Vs Hostgator – An Overview

Both of these hosting services offer lucrative hosting plans price and promise of all essential features. They also have a big reputation in the market with the wide user base so you can select any one of these based on your need. And, here below is the detailed comparison between them:

Plans and Pricing

While selecting a host for our blog or website, it’s important to have the plans and prices, which could fit in our pocket as nobody like to go deep with the options they can’t afford. So, here is the information.

hostgatorFor a rookie or a new website, Hostgator offer 3 of its best plans which are very cost effective and full of features named as Hatchling, Baby and Business Plan. All these plans have the common features of unlimited disk space and bandwidth with the first two having shared SSL certificate and free private SSL & IP certificate for the business plan. Also, the Hatchling plan can host only a single domain name and the rest two can host unlimited. The price is as follows:

  • Hatchling Plan – US $ 3.96/month (Starting)
  • Baby Plan – US $ 6.36/month (Starting)
  • Business Plan – US $ 10.36/month (Starting)

bluehostComing to the Bluehost, it also offers 3 basic hosting plans, namely Starter, Plus and Business Pro. The only common feature among these three is unlimited bandwidth, with last two having unlimited websites and disk space in common as well, while the Starter plan just has 1 website and 100 GB of disk space in its name. The pricing is as follows:

  • Starter Plan – US $ 3.95/month (Starting)
  • Plus Plan – US $ 6.95/month (Starting)
  • Business Pro Plan – US $ 14.95/month (Starting)

Ease of Use

The next thing after plans and pricing about a good hosting service is its use of ease as many of the current generation bloggers don’t come from the computer background so it’s must to offer them easy control panel to use.

Well, both Bluehost and Hostgator offers very user friendly cPanel control panel to make sure that the admin doesn’t get annoyed. Hostgator also offers its own customized control panel for greater user satisfaction, not much different from regular one though.

Speed, Uptime and Response Time

One of the most vital parts of the specification while choosing a website host is its performance factor as if it’s good, then you’ve got a better chance to sustain in the market. Now, both Bluehost and Hostgator have best in class server technologies to maintain the traffic and keep your website live almost every time. Here are some facts for further clearance:

speed testing

While tested two different websites on Hostgator and Bluehost with same design, design and size; the result came in favor of Hostgator as the website had load time of just 1.52 seconds compared to the 3.11 seconds for the Bluehost.

uptime test

Both the website hosting providers promise to offer 99.9% uptime, but the reality was different when tested. After scrutinizing, the results showed that Blueshost had around 9-10 outages with total downtime of around 45 minutes in a week and the Hostgator had just 1 outage of 1 minute in the whole week.

Response Time Test

Pingdom test cleared the difference between Hostgator and Bluehost with 1.2 seconds (average) and 5.3 seconds (average) load time respectively for the websites hosted on them.

My Vote – I guess there is no reason left to not to choose Hostgator and vice-versa.

Technical Customer Care Support

The last but not the least factor to decide which website hosting service is good for you is check its technical customer care support staff and process as it’s important to get an issue resolved ASAP to maintain your websites goodwill in the market.

Here again, both Bluehost and Hostagtor has great technical supporting staff with all 3 options of E-Mail Support, Live Chat, Phone Call and Ticket Generation too. The responding is also good with equal time taking from both in problem resolution and 24*7*365 availability.

My Vote – It’s a tie again!

Final Conclusion

Based upon the above comparison, it’s clear that one should choose Hostgator over the Bluehost website hosting and, if there is any doubt left, check the below features:

  • Hostagator offer 45-Day money back guarantee, Bluehost doesn’t.
  • Hostgator definitely has better load time, speedy performance and minimum downtime as well.
  • It also has efficient security features and expert team to keep you and your data safe from the hackers and other unsocial attempts.
  • You also can avail many discount offers, if selected Hostgator as the website hosting provider for your blog.

I guess now all you are ready to take a wise decision while practicing over the Bluehost and Hostgator to select a website or a blog hosting service provider as per your needs and requirements. I will recommend you to use Cloudways. Bluehost and HostGator have a Server Downtime Problem and they provided Shared IP Hosting. CloudWays offer you Dedicated IP Hosting.

Bluehost & Hostgator also offer Dedicated hosting/IP… This post is for those wanting a reliable yet simple hosting solution. We are currently on Hostgator and had no issue within the 3 years we have been with them. Also with blue host no issue on our demo sites. Cloudways seems an interesting and I will try them out on my smaller projects to test and report back here in a few months. What is your experience with them thus far ?

It seems also that Cloudways are a middle man for Digital ocean and Amazon web services ?

You are correct, Cloudways enables developers, bloggers, web agencies to easily host on top of DigitalOcean and AWS EC2 infrastructures.

Both DO and AWS have amazing reputation when it comes to performance and reliability as both companies use high end server configurations paired with SSDs. The only backdrop is that it is very time consuming and you require high server technical knowledge to setup DO and AWS yourself

Cloudways is a platform that gives you a UI to install applications like WordPress with just 1 click and select server configuration.

If you test out Cloudways against Hostgator and Bluehost you will see a high performance boost.

If you speak server language Cloudways uses

Nginx, Varnish, Apache, Memcache to boost up the performance while using high end infrastructure powered by SSDs and dedicated IPs.

How about you give 1gb DO server a try on trial account
